What type of photograph can be entered?

It’s up to you, as long as it’s related to READING!

Think beyond the typical and get creative - outdoors, indoors, digital, magazine or book.

Only two photos per person can be entered. Photos must be in JPEG format.


Entry categories and prizes

Open section – open to those aged 18 years and over

1st prize: gift voucher from Griffith Camera House to the value of $300
2nd prize: gift voucher from Griffith Camera House to the value of $200

Junior section – open to those aged between 13 and 17 years.

1st section: gift voucher from Griffith Camera House to the value of $250
2nd section: gift voucher from Griffith Camera House to the value of $150


People’s Choice

The people’s choice award will be awarded to the photo with the most votes. Voting can take place in the library only. Voting commences on July 2 and concludes on July 28, 2012.


Special Exhibition

This year’s entries will be on display at the Griffith City Library for the month of July 2012.


Prizes & awards

The Mayor of Griffith will present the prizes and awards at a special ceremony held on Thursday 9 August 2012 at 5:30pm. Each entrant will receive an invitation to attend the awards evening.


How to enter

Email your photo/s to library@griffith.nsw.gov.au

In the email, please include your full name and phone number as well as a SMALL caption to describe the photograph.

Please read the conditions of entry (see below) before emailing your photo.

By entering your photo/s in the Caught Reading competition, you have read, understood and agreed to the conditions of entry.


Conditions of entry

  • The photographic competition is free and open to residents, employees and visitors to the City of Griffith.
  • The photographic competition closes on June 30, 2012.
  • The subject matter must be related to READING.
  • If a photograph is taken of a person, his/her permission for the photograph to be entered in the competition and displayed should be obtained in writing. Parental permission should be obtained if taking a photograph of a person under the age of 18.
  • Two photos per person may be entered
  • Photographs MUST be in digital format only and must be a JPEG file.
  • Do not add any text to the photograph.
  • Entries will be displayed at the Griffith City Library for the month of July.
  • The winning photographs will be selected from a panel of judges. The judges’ decisions are final.
  • Winners will be announced and prizes awarded by the Mayor of Griffith at a special awards evening to be held at Griffith City Library on Thursday 9 August 2012. All entrants will be invited to the ceremony.
  • Prizes are not redeemable for cash.
  • Entries will become the property of Griffith City Library and may be featured in library publications, on its website and media campaigns. The library will include entrant’s names to acknowledge photographs where possible.
  • Griffith City Library reserves the right to refuse or not display an entry.

Knit In - Friday June 1, 2012

The Knit In for 2012 will be launched on Friday June 1 with a
LIVE broadcast from ABC Riverina Radio at the Griffith City Library.
All are welcome to attend and join in a BBQ breakfast
 prepared by the Lions Club Griffith with all proceeds going directly to their flood appeal.
